 Cursillo gives us the tools to live as authentic Christians, who in small groups are committed to working together to transform their environments for Christ, while being helped by the movement to discover and develop their personal Christian ministries.  It is a method by which our spirituality may be developed, lived out in community with other Christians and used by the Lord to reach others.

The purpose of the Day of Deeper Understanding is to ensure that Cursillistas understand how the gift of the Cursillo method provides structure for a lifetime experience of Christian love and service.  Our Cursillo Three Days may have been a wonderful experience but it is just the preparation for the rest of our lives – our fourth day.

It aims to encourage:

  1. Daily application of piety, study and action
  2. Group Reunion participation
  3. Attendance at Ultreyas
  4. Relationship with a Spiritual Director

The Day of Deeper Understanding addresses:

  1. The role of the Movement in the Church.
  2. The structure of the Movement, locally and nationally.
  3. How to use the Cursillo Method: Group Reunion, Ultreya and Spiritual Direction.
  4. The Three Day Weekend and its relationship to the Pre-Cursillo and the Fourth Day.
  5. The need for planned, personal contact Apostolic Action.
  6. Effective and responsible Sponsorship.

The programme is usually run on a Saturday from 9.15am until 3.30pm.

Apart from the addresses there is time for worship, floating group reunions, lots of discussion – and heaps of great singing!

The Day of Deeper Understanding is intended for new Cursillistas and their sponsors and veterans from past Cursillos. The talk guidelines may be the same but the presentation and mix of Cursillistas gathering together make each day unique. It is always a special day of working together in community to better equip us as agents for Christ’s transforming power.
